Stone Island menswear was founded in 1981 by Massimo Osti, whose design approach was based around his research into innovative manufacturing processes. This groundbreaking experimentation with forms, materials and finishes led him to be compared to an inventor, as opposed to a traditional fashion designer, and helped the brand stand out as a symbol of functional style. Osti sadly passed away in 1995, but the current team behind Stone Island have succeeded in continuing to uphold the brand values he created.
